How does our SCA course and coaching bundle support GP trainees with their MRCGP SCA preparation?
The MRCGP SCA is your final hurdle before qualifying as an independent GP, and for many, it’s a daunting experience.
We appreciate that you are an experienced doctor, and you do not need to be spoonfed and retaught how to consult patients, we do not provide formulaic “copy-cat” sentences and phrases that could be easily detected from experienced examiners! Our course aims to fine-tune your already fantastic skills!
The coaching package is a tailored experience to your individual consulting needs. Within the coaching sessions, you will have one-to-one sessions with our GP educators to help you fine-tune your consultation skills through practice, feedback and the use of professional medical actors.
Why is there a need for an SCA personalised
one-to-one coaching programme?
Through our experience of helping GP trainees with their MRCGP SCA preparation,
we know that SCA mock exams are not helpful in passing their SCA exam.

Internal phase - learn about how you consult.
Foundation phase - learn about our consultation boosters to supplement your skills.
Execution phase - use our consultation boosters in your consultation practice.
Reflection phase - reassess and re-review the impact of your changes.

How is the MRCGP SCA personalised
one-to-one coaching delivered?
Our one-to-one coaching consists of four one-hour coaching sessions
and a fortnightly open group session for all of our trainees.
Each session is personalised to your individualised needs as a GP trainee.
If you use our coaching programme, you will receive unlimited
access to the MRCGP SCA course until you PASS the MRCGP SCA.
Here is an example of how our one-to-one coaching sessions work…
Pre-session assessment
We encourage you to send a video consultation of a case that you have practised
with a friend or colleague. This is reviewed before your first session.
Session One
One-hour session with our SCA coach.
Focus: Data gathering and diagnosis.
Practice multiple cases with a focus on data gathering.
Feedback is provided based on our course theory and consultation boosters.
An individualised action plan for data gathering.
Session Two
One-hour session with our SCA coach and a professional medical actor.
Focus: Data gathering and diagnosis, Clinical management and medical complexity and Relating to others.
Practice three SCA scenarios with experienced role players.
Five-minute debriefs after each case.
An individualised action plan for the trainee.
Session Three
One-hour session with our SCA coach.
Focus: Clinical management and medical complexity.
Practice multiple cases with a focus on clinical management and medical complexity.
Feedback is provided based on our course theory and consultation boosters.
An individualised action plan for clinical management and medical complexity.
Session Four
One-hour session with our SCA coach and a professional medical actor.
Focus: Data gathering and diagnosis, Clinical management and medical complexity and Relating to others.
Practice three SCA scenarios with experienced role players.
Five-minute debriefs after each case.
An individualised action plan for the trainee.
Fortnightly Group Sessions
We host a group SCA drop-in session every other week.
You will receive an email reminder inviting you to the session.
This is a two-hour session open to all trainees, but you have to confirm your space in advance.
Currently, there is no limit on the number of trainees attending.
The session focus varies; we can troubleshoot any problems, discuss concerns, or work on a particular area of the consultation structure or marking domain.
Some trainees prefer to break away and practice in small groups.
Dedicated SCA WhatsApp Group
Our SCA WhatsApp group is our area of constant communication.
You can receive daily feedback on any questions you may have.
We provide regular consultation tips that you can implement into your practice.
We will share regular examples of complex SCA cases.
Our MRCGP SCA one-to-one coaching
programme is limited per SCA sitting.
Currently, we have limited this coaching programme to eight GP trainees per sitting,
so if you’d like to secure your place, we would encourage you to get in touch quickly!
We deliver the programme
in small cohorts.
You will receive access to the SCA preparation course immediately.
You will receive four sessions depending on your SCA sitting.
We have pre-scheduled dates per cohort, and we will introduce them to you before you confirm your coaching booking.

There is a £20 refundable deposit to secure your space after you complete your registration form. (This is to ensure that your enquiry is genuine)
Your application will be reviewed by our admin team, and we will contact you with details of our proposed cohort and dates available for coaching. Alongside our terms and conditions for coaching.
Once you receive this, if you are happy, you can confirm your space by agreeing on a flexible payment plan with the WellMedic team.
You can pay everything upfront or split the payment over a maximum of 12 months.
We can adjust the payment plan to your needs using our direct debit agreement.
We will not allow for payments to be split over 12 months.
